*MAV*ER*ICK*

Someone who shows independence of thought and action, especially by refusing to adhere to the policies
of a group to which they belong. Also popularly known as a Bohemian, Trail Blazer, Intellectual, Lone Dissenter, Rebel, Non Conformist, Individualist, Free Thinker, and Lone Wolf.

The founder of Mister Mavericks is, in fact, an eccentric, free-spirited female artist and fashion designer from a small town in Wisconsin. She fell into fashion by accident when she started painting clothing for her then boyfriend after not finding anything exciting or suitable to dress him in at the local stores.

The Men’s clothing selection was a bit mundane and the same at every store she went to. Not only was there no personality or originality in the designs, but the cuts were unflattering, and the fabrics were cheap synthetics. A bit of a Maverick herself, She has been compared to the lightning before the thunder and an innovator who blends art with function. This fashion line was born out of a necessity to bring more variety to Men’s wardrobes since Women’s fashion heavily dominates the market. Every garment at Mister Mavericks is a unique art piece with its own history and story.

This fashion line is one of a kind and hand painted in the U.S.A. The creator is an admirer of the titans and legends of fashion who created the best brands in history that we now know as household names. These innovators and pioneers, some from generations long gone and some still dominating the market today, are the Mavericks of the past and present generation who have created history as we now know it. Trends are cyclical, and these designers painstakingly paved the way for future generations even when some thought their vision was too advanced. They have unconsciously influenced how we view dressing and expressing ourselves in this modern world. We continue to evolve, ever challenging what we view as the “norm”.

Our current society has settled into a lifestyle that is based on comfort, but yet there seems to be longing as we reminisce images from previous generations who seamlessly blended an image of class and easy sophistication into their everyday lives. They made it look effortless and easy. All of the best movies ever created were dominated by characters who defined their personalities with their style. Stars and everyday folk alike truly seemed to enjoy dressing their best and took pride in being polished in a non-superficial manner. At Mister Mavericks, we strive to celebrate the pioneers and titans of fashion who knew and know how to currently design unique pieces that are made to last with the finest natural fibers and tailoring.

Fast fashion has no place here and we are the counter culture of what that represents! We long for simpler times yet strive to strike a balance with individuality, originality and freedom of expression. Practically and technically speaking, this clothing line is in fact, based off a desire to rescue some of the finer collector pieces from suffering an intolerable fate. The designer gets her kicks on collecting unique pieces, both vintage and new overstock items, from designers whose work she admires.

Giving the garments new life is a process that is done out of respect and celebration for the designers she admires. She has always been more of a painter than a fashion designer, so this revolutionary way of working has added more value to her vision in the greater scheme of things while eliminating some of the burden of the surplus inventory on the market with good bones and potential ripe for the picking. Now that you know our mission and our unconventional passion for fashion, feel free to join us as a fellow Maverick!

If you like to stand out from the crowd and don’t shy away from being noticed, then you have come to the right place! Each piece is a great conversation starter and sure to separate you from the pack. We strive to provide something for everyone, no matter your taste and style, subtle or bold, the sky is the limit!

Did you know, interesting history of how the name Maverick came about

When a client gave Samuel A. Maverick 400 cattle to settle a $1,200 debt, the 19th-century south Texas lawyer had no use for them, so he left the cattle unbranded and allowed them to roam freely (supposedly under the supervision of one of his employees). Neighboring stockmen recognized their opportunity and seized it, branding and herding the stray cattle as their own. Maverick eventually recognized the folly of the situation and sold what was left of his depleted herd, but not before his name became synonymous with such unbranded livestock. By the end of the 19th century, the term maverick was being used to refer to individuals who prefer to blaze their own trails.
